In English you can express joy and gratitude by saying You made my day. How would you say You made my day in Portuguese? In Brazil we’d say:
- Ganhei o dia.
Literal translation: I won the day.
Below are a few examples so you can learn how to say You made my day in Portuguese.
Notice that the verb Ganhar is conjugated for the person whose day was jut made better. This is very different from the English expression.
Obrigada pelo presente. Ganhei o dia!
= Thank you for the gift. It made my day.
Ritinha adorou o presente. Ela ganhou o dia.
= Ritinha loved the gift. You made her day.
Ontem cruzamos com Caetano Veloso no supermercado e tiramos uma foto com ele. Ganhamos o dia!
= Yesterday we ran into Caetano Veloso at the supermarket and took a picture with him. It made our day!
