Wah!! I posted that Brazil had a rider racing in this month's Tour de France. MAAASSSS -- Murillo Fischer is not riding, he was not selected. Ths means that there is NO Brazilian in the world's greatest race. Not sure why Murillo is not there.

Murillo is the current national champion of Brazil in elite road racing. He is the only Brazilian to have done what is called cycling's "grand tour" -- riding Le Tour de France and Il Giro d'Italia in the same year.  The Tour started on Saturday, the first stage is more of a show, a prologue. The 2nd day is when the real racing starts. Today, Day 3, the riders completed 201 km, or 160 miles across Belgium.

I hope Murillo is not injured.. Murillo's team is Garmin-Transitions, he has a web page there with many photos of him racing. He is a sprinter, a type of rider who could win a day's stage race but would not be expected to win the entire Tour.

Only two South Americans are in this edition of the Tour and predictably both are from Colombia. The Colombian riders excel in climbing.
